Fair Association County Events Fair Queens

The Gillespie County Fair is the oldest, continuous County Fair in Texas! The fair is held each August at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds where visitors can enjoy live music, crowning of the Fair Queen, Parimutuel horse races, stock show and find out who grew the biggest pumpkin!

The fair festivities kick off with a parade beginning Thursday, August 28 around 10 am. The parade route begins at Main and Adams, turns east onto Main down to Washington, then doubles back all the way down to Bowie.

Activities and Events

The 138th Fair is returning, and we are excited to welcome you back! This year, we will host the final two days of pari-mutuel horse racing on Saturday and Sunday. All traditional livestock shows will be featured once again. We invite you to participate in the Race Day Classic or the Open Cattle Show. Attendees can also enjoy a variety of agricultural displays and additional exhibits throughout the fairgrounds.

Thursday, August 27: Gates open at 5 p.m. Free grounds and concert admission (carnival not included)
Friday, August 28: Gates open at 1 p.m.; carnival runs from 5-11 p.m.
Saturday, August 29: Gates open at 11 a.m.; carnival runs from 1-11 p.m.
Sunday, August 30: Gates open at 11 a.m.; carnival runs from 1–6 p.m., tickets only
